Yoga for Breast Cancer

My own personal experience of breast cancer, 26 years ago, led me to my first yoga class where I witnessed its many benefits in helping me rehabilitate.  I am now offering yoga classes specifically for anyone with a diagnosis of breast cancer.  Visit my blog page to read my ‘Breast Cancer to Yoga - My Story’.

How Yoga Can Help

Research indicates that there are real benefits to regularly practising yoga after a breast cancer diagnosis, particularly for emotional wellbeing, cancer-related fatigue and pain.

As I’ve personally experienced, being diagnosed with breast cancer and having treatment can cause anxiety and leave you feeling imbalanced both physically and mentally. It’s really important to look after your emotional wellbeing and yoga is a great way to take some time to relax and focus on yourself. The yoga poses and breathing techniques practised during yoga can soothe and calm the body from the inside out.

Yoga may help you to:

  • improve emotional wellbeing

  • reduce cancer-related fatigue

  • reduce pain

  • build bone strength

  • improve circulation

  • improve range of motion

  • lower stress and anxiety

  • improve quality of sleep

  • be more comfortable in your body

  • develop a sense of community and support

Yoga for Breast Cancer Classes

My ‘Yoga for Breast Cancer’ class takes place every Wednesday 9.30-10.30am via Zoom.  The beauty of this medium is that it allows for non-local people to join the class and practise from the comfort and safety of their own homes.  I also teach every Tuesday lunchtime 2-3pm at Future Dreams House in Kings Cross, London and alternate Thursdays 1-1.45pm with the GetMeBack breast cancer recovery community.

No previous experience of yoga is necessary, but you must have the consent of your doctor to attend and take responsibility for keeping yourself safe.

If you are interested in finding out more send me an email, or give me a call on 07813-005386.

You will receive a complimentary 20 minute consultation by phone so that I can learn about your treatment.  You can then choose to have a paid private online/in-person lesson (recommended so that I can guide you through a practice and observe you closely) before joining the group class. The group class is £48 for a block of six, or £10 drop in. Payment to: paypal.me/marcieyoga. Private lesson rates available on request.
